THE

STORY

"I’m very lucky to have so much support from people all over the world giving me the chance to constantly push my limits."
Ben during Wings For Life event

After years of living my dream of being a professional wakeboarder, traveling around to skate, surf and film i had an accident that put an emergency alert to my life. I suffered a spinal cord injury in 2016 that turned me into a quadriplegic. Long story short, I crashed wakeboarding while I was practicing a routine manoeuver and woke up paralyzed from the neck down, breathing from a ventilator. Doctors told me I would never walk again and that I'd be lucky to even be able to use one of my arms.

I’ve come a long way with constant therapies and physical rehabilitation. 5 years after my injury I am now feeding myself, controlling wheelchairs and I hand cycled hundreds of kilometers to raise funds to find a cure for spinal injuries! My arms are gaining more power and it feels amazing to finally push myself physically. I’m constantly adapting new ways to do what I used to love.

Being an extreme sports athlete, my private insurance didn’t cover the bills associated with my accident nor do they cover fees related with my rehabilitation process. I’m very lucky to have so much support from people all over the world giving me the chance to constantly push my limits. Words can't express how thankful I am for all of you helping me along this journey!
